A new found appreciation...

My wife scheduled my kids for a professional photographer sitting, and ordered prints. When she told me the photographer gave her the proofs since we spent enough, I didn't want to know how much was enough. However these photographs came out great, and apparently the 3 best ones are the absent ones. I think the photographer really only took 24 photographs.

I'm lucky to get 1 good picture in a roll of 36...

Nervous to open the box?

Weaknees.com has the solution for people wanting to upgrade the storage in their TiVos but don't want to deal with drive reformatting, etc.... They are a little steep so far, until someone documents the instructions.

Newlyweds no more...

So the "Bed Man" came today and brought us our king-sized Kingsdown Dormo Diagnostics Body System 2 bed today. Soft and luxurious are nice benefits, but the room to not have your spouse touching you while you sleep is the best part... (wink..) I guess its not bad for kids crawling into bed with you either. Looking forward to our first night sleeping in it!

First DVD Burner not in a computer...

Thats not entirely true. Apparently TiVo's are basically PC's running Linux. My new "PC" has an 80 gig disk, runs the Linux 2.4 Kernel, and has a DVD-R/RW burner. A little expensive, but I like it.

In fact, I like it better than my ReplayTV, well so far anyway. Its a snappier interface (responsiveness and aesthetics). It has a better remote. The burn to DVD is great, and it lets you poke it more (initiate Dial to Service on demand, etc...)

I don't like its program guide (Its designed with the notion that you will not channel surf anymore after recording a few programs). And until I found the easter egg for the 30-second skip, I preferred that about the ReplayTV.

I got the Pioneer DVR-810-HS from DataVision for much less than MSRP.

Leave it to the Johnstons...

Lots of Leaves

So I got myself a leaf-blower and I've been working all weekend. But those damn trick-or-treaters made a mess of them last night, so I had to clean them up as well as add another load from the backyard!
